My Husband is short, and he loves the fit of these shorts. The inseam is perfect, any longer and he feels like he's wearing peddel pushers. And Cargo pants and a BIG NO. I got him a pair, years ago, he put his wallet in the back pocket and it was below his hiney, he tried a cargo pocket, and he said that it beat up his knees.
    Men, go figure, ;-)

I have more than 20 pairs of the Billy Goat 1 which are wearing thin SO, now that they are finally in stock (after two years) I rushed to order 12 pairs before they went out of stock again.
Much to my surprise, they downgraded the shorts by changing the trusted material and removing the front snap, and replacing it with a CHEAP button that is a battle to use.
No mention was made of these changes of this downgrade that I could see before purchasing.
When these wear out I won't be replacing them with Royal Robbin.

Love the 6 inch inseam in this age of men's "shorts" which are the equivalent of the women's "peddle pushers". Screw those. I like my shorts well above the knee; and, i am NOT gay. It's a comfort thing

Back pockets had to be unstitched, a mistake from the factory. Otherwise shorts were perfect and wish more colors in my size were available.

I started backpacking in the 80's and the Royal Robbin's Billy Goat shorts were the only shorts I would wear. Over the years those shorts wore out, and about a year ago I ordered two pair of the "new" shorts. While I recognize that the new material, a heavy weight cotton, will make the shorts more durable, I miss the original material, which was a much finer cotton weave - it was soft - the new material is coarse and uncomfortable. My old, soft cotton, Billy Goat shorts were both durable and comfortable to wear. As a result, I am now purchasing hiking shorts from other manufacturers who have kept the comfort of the consumer in mind.
